Have you ever wondered why so many people are ill with diseases that barely existed 50 years ago? Maybe you have even suffered from one or more of the following: headaches, fatigue, memory loss, irritability, depression, joint pain, and the list goes on. Did you know that The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported that in the last 50 years, 75,000 chemicals have been introduced in the USA alone. Toxic chemicals, both naturally occurring and man-made, often get into the human body. We may inhale them, swallow them in contaminated food or water, or in some cases, absorb them through our skin. Scientists estimate that everyone alive today carries within his or her body at least 700 contaminants, most of which have not been well studied.

Many chemicals have the ability to attach to dust particles and/or catch air and water currents and travel far from where they are produced or used, the globe is bathed in a chemical soup. Our bodies have no alternative but to absorb these chemicals, which can accumulate for long periods of time in our fat cells. Through these various mechanisms, toxic chemicals can cause a long list of health problems. Therefore it is necessary for us to take steps to detoxify our bodies in order to reclaim our health and vitality. Since there is only so much our bodies can do to fight off the toxins, it is essential that we find alternatives to help remove the harmful waste products.

Far Infrared Sauna therapy may be the perfect solution! Sweating is the most natural and efficent form of toxin removal that requires no drugs. Essentially, the body eliminates most toxins naturally by sweating. The Far Infrared Sauna’s heat therapy stimulates the sweat glands, which cleanse and detoxify the skin as it heats the tissues several inches deep, triggering mobilization of chemicals from fat storage. This enhances the metabolic process and in essence, speeds up the body’s ability to eliminate waste. Far Infrared Saunas heat the body while the air remains cool. Sweating begins quickly and the experience is rather pleasant.

What happens if I’m not sweating?

First of all, everyone is different and unfortunately some people may sweat faster and in greater amounts than other people. If you are finding this to be the case then I would like to suggest the following:

try drinking more water each day, pure water, not tea or soda

try cutting back on the amount of caffeine you drink each day as this may be dehydrating your body

as is the case with anything, watch what you eat – remember if it’s processed chances are it will end up in your fat cells stored as toxins

try dry skin brushing, not only will this feel good, but it will also stimulate your lymphatic system allowing the break up of toxins

try showering before your sauna session, this will remove any lotions or perfumes that may be blocking your pores

“I started using my Far Infrared Sauna 2 years ago. During the first six months I hardly sweat and I was beginning to think I had wasted my money! When I contacted my sales rep. she explained to me that I may have a toxin overload and my body is working hard to push the toxins out, but it is just taking more time. She recommended I try drinking more water, watch the amount of processed foods I ate, cut caffeine, and switch from night sessions to morning sessions. I also bumped my temperature up from 120 to 128 degrees F. Within 2 weeks I started sweating like a pig! It just goes to show that everyone is different and if you are having issues sweating, it could be that you are overloaded with toxins. Whatever you do, don’t give up!”

Recommended Far Infrared Sauna Usage

Before starting any new health regimen, please consult with your doctor.

Be sure to drink plenty of water, before, during and after your sauna session (we recommend room temperature water during your session as cold water will cool the body decreasing perspiration)

It is recommended that you maintain a vitamin/mineral supplement regimen

Start small and gradually increase as your body adjusts. Begin your sessions at 20 min. per day with the temperature around 120 degrees. Increase your time and temperature as your body adjusts.

We recommend setting your time to 40 min. and the temperature at 120 degrees. Allow the sauna to warm up for 10 min. while you change, drink water, and grab a towel

Frequency should be discussed with your doctor. Some people do fine using the sauna everyday, where other’s find 3 -4 times a week sufficient.

The best time to use the sauna is first thing in the morning, or last thing before bed ( I personally have found that I sweat more when I do my sessions in the morning)

Dry skin brushing before a sauna session will help stimulate the lymphatic system

Showering before the session may increase perspiration

Clothing is optional, just be sure you are comfortable!

Each sauna session should be enjoyable! Listen to your radio, read a book, or just sit back and relax!

Once your session has ended, it is recommended that you stay in the sauna for an additional 5 – 10 minutes. Some have found increased sweating by doing this.

Feel free to use aromatic oils during your sauna session, as long as you know how to use them correctly!

If you feel dizzy, faint, light headed, or nauseous leave the sauna immediately. Drink lots of water and seek medical attention immediately!

Pregnant women and children under five should avoid saunas. Young children must be accompanied by an adult.

During your session you may start to notice your body reacting to the toxins being released, whether it be odors, rashes, odd tastes, fatigue, headaches, or gastrointestinal movement. This may be considered normal but if it becomes severe, seek medical attention immediately!

Ceramic, Carbon Fibre - OH MY!

Let me briefly discuss why we offer two types of heaters!

I’m sure you’ve heard that there are two types of heaters on the market for Far Infrared Saunas. An older technology being the Ceramic Heaters, and a newer technology being the Carbon Fibre. You will find some companies only sell one type of heater. Why? Maybe it’s because they have had great success with those heaters and want to continue to sell them. Maybe it’s because their manufacturer only distributes one type of heater, therefore that’s all they can offer. Or maybe they feel inferior to the latest technology and are afraid to change. In any case, don’t let a company’s inability to offer both types of heaters influence your decision! If you find someone making claims about one heater over the other, be sure to do your research. Make sure the information they are providing is from a reputable source (not their own manufacturer), and be sure it is backed by scientific proof!

At Cabin Saunas, LLC, we sell both types of heaters. They both work in the same fashion and emit Far Infrared Rays in the same spectrum. We are proud to offer both and provide the consumer the option to choose. Who wouldn’t want the ability to choose! Ask about the Cabin Sauna Consumer’s Guide, we go into great detail about the differences!

Cabin Saunas, Far Infrared Saunas help with Detoxification

Toxins are everywhere! In the water we drink and bath in, the air we breath, and the food we eat! These harmful toxins often find their way into our fat cells where they are stored. Toxins have been directly linked with a host of diseases: cancer, weakened immune system, arthritis, autism, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer’s, neurological and cardiovascular disorders. The body eliminates most toxins naturally by sweating but the process is sometimes too slow. Infrared heat therapy stimulates the sweat glands, cleansing and detoxifying the skin as it heats the tissues several inches deep. This in turn, triggers mobilization of chemicals from fat storage which enhances the metabolic process and in essence, speeds up the body’s natural detoxification process.

Studies have shown that by using a Far Infrared Sauna, the average person may sweat out 20% toxins and 80% water! In conventional steam saunas the average person may sweat out 3% toxins and 97% water.

Pain Relief – Arthritis and Fibromyalgia

Help alleviate pain from Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Joints, Back Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and general day to day aches and pains. Far infrared saunas have been very beneficial in the treatment of pain associated with joints, muscles, and bones. Those who suffer from Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are believed to have an excess of toxins in their bodies contributing to the pain. Continuous use of a Far Infrared Sauna has been known to help remove the overload of toxins which in turn helps alleviate the pain. By raising the core temperature, which creates a hyperthermia effect, the Far Infrared Sauna also strengthens the immune system which also helps the body fight pain.

The gentle yet deep heat of the Far Infrared Sauna allows blood vessels to dilate which aides in relief of muscle pain. The increased blood circulation pushes the metabolic waste out of the body and delivers oxygen rich blood to those muscles that have been depleted. As a result recovery time from such ailments is greatly reduced. Not only will the warm heat from a Far Infrared Sauna allow relaxation of the muscles, but it will help alleviate the soreness and stiffness associated with them.

Far Infrared radiant (FIR) heat is a completely safe form of naturally occurring energy that heats objects by a process called direct light, infrared heat or infrared energy. This energy directly transmits, or penetrates into our bodies because of it’s specific wavelength. The warmth of the sun and the warmth you feel when you rub your hands together are forms of Far Infrared heat.

Far Infrared heat waves are gentle and comfortable using temperatures of only 110-140º F. The waves are absorbed through your skin and penetrate 2-3” deep into the body. Because it heats you and not the air, the heat in the Cabin Sauna is not harsh on your lungs or skin like traditional steam and rock saunas. With this deep warming of the blood vessels they automatically dilate, or open up which increases the oxygen and circulation to the entire body, while also nourishing damaged tissues.

FIR heat is not ultraviolet radiation, but a narrow band of energy within the 5-15 micron level. The infrared segment of the electromagnetic spectrum is divided into 3 segments of wavelength measured in microns (a microns=1 / 1,000,000 of a meter). The infrared segment of the electromagnetic spectrum occurs just below (infra) to red light. This band of light is not visible to human eyes but can be seen by special cameras. We can, however, feel this type of light we perceive as heat. Our sun produces most of its energy output in the infrared segment of the spectrum. Our atmosphere has a window in it that allows infrared rays in the 7 – 14 micron range to safely reach the earth’s surface. When warmed, the earth radiates infrared rays in the 7 – 14 micron band with its peak output at 10 microns.

The sun is the primary source of radiant energy. Far Infrared heat provides many of the health benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of solar radiation. This is also the same heat that is used in hospital incubators to keep premature babies warm.

WHAT MAKES THE HEAT?

Anything and everything produces infrared. The task of an infrared heater is to produce infrared in a range that is beneficial to the human body. The first thing to know is that there are a number of different types of infrared heaters (ceramic, carbon, incoloy, mica and aluminum). All infrared heaters are going to have some part of them that is made of metal. This is absolutely necessary in order to transfer the electricity from the power wires, and then to whatever material is being used to produce the infrared heat.

What is infrared energy?

The electromagnetic spectrum is divided into three segments by wavelength, which is measured in microns (1/1,000,000 of a meter).

0.76 to 1.5 microns = near infrared

1.5 to 5.6 microns = middle infrared

5.6 to 1000 microns = far infrared

This wavelength of light warms objects without warming the air between the source and the object (known as conversion).

This radiant heat can also be called Infrared Energy (IR).

Do not confuse this with UV radiation (sunburn) or atomic radiation (nuclear) – see the diagram above for where these types of light fall on the spectrum.

Infrared waves are not visible to human eyes but can be seen by special instruments that translate infrared into colors that are visible to our eyes.

The best example is the sun (80% of the sun’s rays are infrared).

Our atmosphere allows infrared rays in the 7 to 14 micron range to safely reach the earth’s surface.

When warmed, the earth radiates infrared rays with its peak output at 10 microns.

The human body radiates infrared energy out through the skin at 3 to50 microns, with most around 9.4 microns.

How does an infrared sauna work?

Far infrared sauna therapy is said to duplicate the healthy frequencies of our own cells. The tissues are purported to selectively absorb these rays as the water in the cell reacts in a process called “resonant absorption”.

This resonant absorption is said to occur when the frequency of the far infrared matches the frequency of the water in the cell. This causes toxins from the cells to be put out into the blood stream and excreted in sweat, feces, and urine.

Proponents of this therapy state that our tissues which are undergoing the healing process may need a boost of infrared to ensure the fullest healing response.

Far infrared is claimed to penetrate the body’s tissues to a depth of 1.5 to 3 inches.

Due to the supposed deep penetration of infrared rays, a heating effect is observed deep in the muscular tissues and even into the internal organs.

This “deep heating,” along with sweating, is thought to be responsible for the healing effects and the other health benefits associated with these infrared rays.

Problems associated with High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, and Cholesterol may be severely reduced through Far Infrared Sauna Therapy. During a 30 minute sauna session, the heart rate may increase by 50-75%. This in turn, provides the same metabolic result as physical exercise. Circulation throughout the body increases as the blood vessels increase in size and become more flexible. As a result the flow of blood increases and carries waste and toxins out of the body via perspiration. Over time as the body becomes more effective at detoxification one’s blood pressure and cholesterol will start to drop.

“As an alternative to taking prescription medication, I decided to try a Far Infrared Sauna. As a result of regular use, my cholesterol has dropped 37 pts. and my Triglycerides have dropped 229 pts. I contribute the drop in my Cholesterol to the use of the Far Infrared sauna, as I have not changed my diet or exercise routine and I am NOT taking any medication.”
