Why Certifications are Important?
Why are certifications important? The last thing you want is a poorly tested electrical product in your home that can put your families safety and health at risk. If you do your research, you will find there are many cheap saunas on the market that don’t meet basic safety requirements. The following certificates exist to minimize your risk as a consumer and help vouch that the product has passed important safety tests. Any organization who issues a certification is responsible for what they have issued for a certain product. Accordingly, their standards are extremely high and they would never issue a certification for an imperfect product. Please look out for the following certificates of which the Cabin Sauna LLC, Far Infrared Sauna’s have all passed.

Preparation and Treatment
When selecting a sauna it is important to select the proper type of wood that will not only be a beautiful addition to your home, but also last for a very long time. The finish, longevity and aesthetic appeal of your sauna are all dictated by the type, quality and preparation of the chosen wood. The following will highlight some of the factors that you should consider when making a choice. It is important that the wood is correctly cured to avoid warping and splits when the sauna is heated and cooled. If the wood is not correctly dried before the sauna is manufactured, then over time this warping can lead to problems such as gaps or seperation! All of Cabin Saunas, Far Infrared Saunas are kiln dried for 30 days at the manufacturer. This ensures that the moisture content of the wood is within optimal standards and helps prevent any crack-ing, warping, or twisting during production. Our sauna’s are also double walled for longevity and durability.
Types of Wood
The most popular woods chosen for sauna construction are: fir, hemlock, cedar and basswood. Typically, these woods are chosen due to their excellent thermal properties and resistance to splitting when heated and cooled. A Cabin Sauna, Far Infrared Sauna is made of either high grade Hemlock or Red Cedar imported from Canada.
Wood grades vary and we carefully ensure that our cedar and hemlock wood is of the highest grade when imported. Each wood-en sheets is classified according to the color and width, only qualified sheets are used in Cabin Sauna’s, Far Infrared Saunas. The color of cedar wood can vary between samples from the same tree. Therefore, during the production process a special wood-selection procedure guarantees that the wood used for any one sauna has a very close match. They must be free of knots and have no obvious color differences. The wood used in the Cabin Sauna’s, Far Infrared Saunas have been carefully selected resulting in a designer looking fi nish. After the wood is carefully inspected, each sauna is then construct-ed together using water-based, non toxic glues and then carefully pressed for 24 hours to ensure adequate adherence. All of Cabin Sauna’s, Far Infrared Saunas are constructed so that the wood is double walled, resulting in a well constructed, heavy duty sauna.Once the sauna is constructed, it must then be sanded and finished to create a designer look. The quality of the finished paint-work depends on how well the wood was sanded in the preparation stage. Each of our Cabin Sauna’s, Far Infrared Saunas go through 2 – 3 rounds of sanding and painting to ensure a smooth finish.
Build Quality
When considering the structural strength of the sauna, it is important to look at the wall and glass thickness along with how the sauna latches together. Typically, the walls are constructed using double paneling with a cavity in the middle that can be used for wiring, etc. The type and thickness of the wood used can have a significant affect on the heat loss and overall running costs of the sauna. The Cabin Sauna’s, Far Infrared Saunas use two layers of strong, tongue and groove wood panels resulting in a sturdy, high-stability finish. While the glass provides less insulation than wood, it is desirable for both aesthetic reasons and to reduce the feeling of claustrophobia while enclosed in the sauna. Our Cabin Sauna, glass doors provide a designer finish to each sauna.
Eco-Safe / Electrical
The glue used in the Cabin Saunas, Far Infrared Saunas is a Polyvinyl Acetate Dispersion which is water based and environ-mentally friendly. As a result, no unhealthy gases or toxins will be released when the sauna is in use. Each Cabin Sauna has casing to protect the wires where necessary so they do not make the wood hot. We use coated flexible metallic conduit, high-temperature casing, high temperature wire, kapton tape, fuses, temperature sensitive switch, etc. on our products to ensure the electrical safety. Heaters are mounted to heater frames via a floating encasement. This structure insures that the heaters are not con-nected directly to the walls and not touching the wooden parts.
The Cabin Sauna, Far-Infrared Sauna doesn’t need any plumbing, venting, no steam, and no permits. This means that you can put them anywhere you want to put them.
Assembly
30 Minute Assembly – Do it Yourself!
The Cabin Sauna, Far Infrared Sauna range uses a heavy duty copper buckle fitting that is very strong, providing an extremely sturdy finish. A Cabin Sauna can be assembled within 30 minutes without the need for any special tools.
Our Far Infrared Saunas
are very portable. When you receive your Cabin Sauna, it will come in 2 boxes. One box will contain the floor and top, and the other box will contain the 4 sides. Open the smaller box, containing the floor and top. Place the floor in the location where you want to assemble the sauna. Next, open the larger box with the 4 sides. Place a side and the back on the floor piece and latch them together. Next, place the leg heater and bench in place. Bring the other side and front in place and latch all sides together. Place the top of the sauna in the tongue and groove section of each side. Complete your electrical work (simply plug the cords together – it’s very easy!). Turn the sauna on and you are ready to sweat!
This unique, knockdown system allows for easy assembly and dis-assembly. Be sure to have help when lifting the boxes and assembling the sauna. Follow the diagram for a graphical representation.
Our Heaters

Our InFrared Heaters – we offer 2 types
We offer either ceramic heaters or carbon fibre heaters. Both of our heaters are government regulated and ensured to produce infrared waves in the 7-14 micron range. Both heaters work in the same fashion, it’s just a matter of personal preference. Infrared heaters work using electromagnetic radiation. Much like the sun rays warm you on a summer’s day, infrared heaters work by directing radiation directly at objects and using their infrared light to warm up the objects the light comes into contact with. Just as you get cooler when you move out of the sun and into the shade, infrared heaters also only heat objects that are in direct contact with the light.
Carbon Fibre Heaters
Our Carbon Fiber Heaters are cutting edge technology and the peak of FAR-infrared performance. Carbon fiber heaters emit the most even and direct FAR-infrared (FIR) deep penetrating heat. Some have said that the FIR emitted by carbon fiber heaters penetrates deeper than any other FIR heaters and operates effectively at a lower temperature. The carbon fibre board is ultra-thin, light-weight and safe to use. The slim-line size of carbon fibre heaters means that they take up very little space within your new infrared sauna. The heating panel uses a sheet that has been impregnated with carbon using a special high temperature pressing technique to produce a resistance that will emit infrared waves at the optimum wavelength of 9.4μm for the human body.
Ceramic Heaters
Ceramic heater elements have been used for over 20 years in the infrared sauna industry. They are extremely efficient at radiating Infrared Heat. This results in lower temperatures and more efficient energy use. Ceramic infrared heaters produce the same useful energy as the sun but without the harmful ultraviolet rays of natural sunlight. Our ceramic tube is filled with sand and minerals. The sand is heated by an embedded coil and when filtered through the ceramic tube produces “Far Infrared” light waves. Because of the sand filled ceramic tubes our heaters produce exceptionally soft and effective far-infrared. Ninety-one percent of the heat produced by our heater is in the “Far” infrared range and measures in the 5-14 micron range which best matches the measurement of our body’s far infrared wave-lengths. Our heat is very gentle allowing for a much more enjoyable experience at lower temperatures than a conventional steam sauna.
How are the ceramic heaters made?
A ceramic tube is filled with sand and inside the sand lies a small electrical coil. The coil is heated and disperses the heat through the sand. This in turn, warms the ceramic tube which then emits the Far Infrared Rays.
